Split a Photo into Numbered Grid Tiles in Your Browser
Cut one photo into a 3 x 3 or any grid of equal tiles, numbered, with the order to post them. Runs in your browser: the photo is never uploaded. Saves new files.
Your photo is processed inside this browser, on a canvas. It is not uploaded and no server ever receives it. The tiles are new files; your original is never changed.

When to use this
- You want one big picture to appear across the squares of a social media profile grid.
- You want a photo cut into equal numbered pieces for a collage, a puzzle or a poster print.
- You do not want to upload your photo to a website you do not know.
How to use
- Choose one PNG, JPEG or WebP photo.
- Type the number of columns and rows. Three columns by three rows gives nine tiles.
- Press Split into tiles and check the numbered preview.
- Download the tiles. Post them in the order shown, highest number first, so the picture lines up.
Examples
- 3 x 3 grid from a 1000 x 700 photo: Each tile is 333 x 233 pixels. One pixel of width and one pixel of height are trimmed, so all nine tiles are the same size. Post tile 9 first and tile 1 last.
- 3 x 1 panorama: A wide photo split into three tiles in one row. Post tile 3, then 2, then 1, so tile 1 ends up on the left.
Understanding the result
The photo is cut into equal tiles. Each tile is floor(width / columns) by floor(height / rows) pixels, and the few leftover pixels are trimmed evenly from the edges. Tiles are numbered from the top-left, row by row. Many apps show the newest post first at the top-left of a profile grid, so the tile with the highest number is posted first. The tiles keep the file type of the original: PNG stays PNG, JPEG stays JPEG.
Limitations
- Apps may crop or resize tiles again, and they decide how a profile grid is ordered and cropped. Check one tile in your app before you post them all.
- Your photo should be close to the shape of the grid (for example about as wide as tall for 3 x 3), or the edges will be trimmed or the tiles will look stretched in the app.
- This tool does not post anything and has no link to any social network.
- Browsers may ask permission or block many downloads at once. Download tiles one by one if that happens.
FAQ
How do I split a photo into 9 parts?
Choose the photo, keep 3 columns and 3 rows, press Split into tiles and download the nine files. They are numbered 1 to 9 from the top-left.
In what order should I post the tiles?
Most profile grids show the newest post first at the top-left, so post the highest number first and tile 1 last. Check how your own app orders its grid.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is drawn on a canvas inside your browser and cut there. There is no upload and no server copy.
Why were some pixels trimmed?
Tiles must all be the same whole-pixel size. If the width does not divide evenly by the number of columns, the leftover pixels are cut evenly from the left and right edges (and top and bottom for rows).
Can I make a grid with more than 3 columns?
Yes, up to 6 columns and 6 rows, with at most 24 tiles in total.
