Meeting Cost Calculator: What Does This Meeting Cost?
Work out what a meeting costs from the number of people, an hourly cost you type and the length. See cost per minute and run a live meter. Runs in your browser.
The cost is worked out only from the numbers you type, in this browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to a server.

When to use this
- You want to see how much people's time in a meeting adds up to.
- You want a per-minute number to decide whether a meeting needs to be that long or that big.
- You want a live meter on a shared screen while the meeting runs.
How to use
- Type the number of people and the planned length in minutes.
- Type one hourly cost per person. Use a planning figure your team agrees on, not anyone's real pay.
- Choose how often the meeting repeats if it is a regular one.
- Press Work out the cost. Press Start meter to watch the cost count up while the meeting runs.
Examples
- Six people for an hour: 6 people at 45 per hour for 60 minutes is 6 x 45 = 270 per hour, 4.50 per minute, so 270.00 for the hour.
- A weekly stand-up: 8 people at 40 per hour for 15 minutes is 80.00 for one meeting. Repeated every week, 52 times a year, that is 4,160.00.
Understanding the result
The cost per hour is the number of people times the hourly cost. Divide by 60 for the cost per minute. Multiply by the minutes for one meeting. For a regular meeting the yearly figure is the cost of one meeting times the number of meetings a year. The live meter multiplies the same per-second cost by the time that has passed.
Limitations
- This is a rough figure from numbers you type. It does not know anyone's pay and does not look up wages or roles.
- A meeting's value is not its cost. A short, useful meeting can be worth far more than it costs, and the tool does not measure that.
- Use a team planning figure rather than a real person's pay. Please do not post individual salaries.
- The live meter runs only while this page is open and visible. Browsers may slow timers in background tabs, so the clock can drift, and it stops if you close or reload the page.
FAQ
How do I calculate the cost of a meeting?
Multiply the number of people by the hourly cost and by the length of the meeting in hours. For 6 people at 45 per hour for 1 hour that is 270.
What hourly cost should I use?
Any single planning figure you choose, such as a team average your company already uses for budgeting. The tool only multiplies the number you type and does not suggest one.
Does the live meter work for a long meeting?
Yes, up to the time you leave the page open. Leave this tab visible, because browsers can slow timers in hidden tabs.
Why is the cost per person not the same as the hourly cost?
The per-person figure is the hourly cost scaled to the meeting length. For a 30 minute meeting it is half the hourly cost.
Are my numbers sent anywhere?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or sent to a server, and the tool does not put your numbers in the page address.
